Maid of Honor Tips

Maid of Honor

We’ve all been there: being either a maid of honor or a bridesmaid for the friend who got married first. Instead of letting your jealousy get the better of you, follow these maid of honor tips to ensure both you and the bride-to-be have the day you deserve.

1. Prepare a graceful maid of honor speech, which is given at the reception. This will be your moment to shine. Give a maid of honor speech that’s simple and from the heart. Don’t mention the bride’s ex-boyfriends, or tell off-color jokes during the speech.

2. Recognize that you can network during the wedding. Weddings are great places to meet guys because they’re already in the mode of couplehood. Plus, weddings are filled with couples and guys get in the mood just like anyone else.

3. Be genuinely happy for your friend. It’s natural to be jealous, but don’t let that get in the way of honest happiness for your friend. It’s good karma for you and your future relationships.

4. Try not to drink too much at the reception. The last thing you want to do is end up like that Sandra Bullock character in 28 days.

5. Remember that you’re in charge of organizing the bachelorette party, the bridal shower and getting the bridesmaids in order. Make sure you’re in contstant contact with the bride and the bride’s mother. They may want your help with choosing the wedding dress, cakes, food, decorations and music.
